E. Keith Owens, Director
Calling upon more than 40 years of senior executive experience in the healthcare and insurance industries,
Mr. Owens founded Brookside Institute in 2002, after several years of conducting extensive research of
substance and alcohol abuse treatment centers throughout the United States. Mr. Owens studied the history,
operations, development and regulations of opiate treatment centers for ten years. During this time, he
studied the work of Dr. Joseph Volpicelli of the University of Pennsylvania; the Beck Institute; Dr.
Richard Rawson of the University of California Los Angeles; Dr. Daniel Amen and his study of brain
functions through SPECT scans; along with the pharmacological work in addiction with several pharmaceutical
companies. Mr. Owens developed and refined Brookside Institute's innovative protocol, creating a
science-based medical model using Naltrexone, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Brain Wave Analysis,
Medication Management and Adjunctive Therapies.
Kim O'Donnell, C.A.T.C., Managing Director and Admissions
Trained in the organization and implementation of residential facilities, Ms. O'Donnell has worked within
the various academic and community recovery systems such as: Behavioral Modification, Social Model and now
Medical Model. A graduate of Saddleback College, with certificates as a Drug and Alcohol counselor, Family
Mediation and Prevention Educator, Ms. O'Donnell has served as an educator in helping to improve community
attitudes toward addiction. Working with individuals and groups in changing lifestyles, Ms. O'Donnell brings
strength and clarity to her position, and is recognized as a leader in primary recovery and aftercare
techniques.
Stephanie Laurent, International Marketing, Managing Director
Stephanie joined the Brookside staff after deciding to make a career change that included her lifelong dream
of working in the field of Substance Abuse and Recovery. Her experience in Marketing and Public Relations, and
her primary goal of helping people was what started her career at Brookside Institute in the role of Intake and
Admissions, where she served from 2005-2007. Stephanie's current focus as International Marketing Director is to
educate individuals about Brookside Institute's comprehensive medical approach to treat those suffering from
addictive and mental health disorders. She is listed in the 2006-2007 Cambridge Who's Who. "I am honored and
blessed to work with our caring staff, and inspired by all they do to change the lives of every individual who
walks through our doors."
